Sackawa Canoe Club Wedding

When I think of a summer wedding, I imagine a late-August celebration—warm, bright sun, soft breezes off the water, outdoor ceremonies and slow, easy mingling, and the kind of golden sunset that feels almost unreal. J + B’s day was exactly that. Every detail glowed with that end-of-summer magic, and their love honestly shone brighter than all of it.

When J + B first reached out to me, I felt an immediate connection to their vision for the day. Everything they described aligned so naturally with the way I approach weddings - intentional, documentary-driven, and rooted in real moments over perfection. They wanted a day that felt relaxed and genuine, where the atmosphere carried as much meaning as the photos. The mix of quiet, candid storytelling and softly prompted portraits suited them perfectly.

From their emotional first look and private vows with the lake behind them, still and shimmering, to the joy-filled chaos of glowsticks, cardboard cutouts of their dogs, and some of the most delicious BBQ food I’ve ever eaten at a wedding… every moment felt undeniably “them.” J + B infused their personality into every second of the day, and being invited to capture it was such a gift.
